Happy hour in Manchester isn't dead - it's just gone niche. From £4 cocktails at student bars to 2-for-1 prosecco in Spinningfields, here's every venue we've logged a happy-hour deal at.

Happy hour in Manchester used to mean 5–7pm two-for-one cocktails on Deansgate. These days the format has fragmented: some bars run all-day happy hours on quiet weekdays, some run dinner-hour deals tied to food, and a few of the bigger chains have replaced 'happy hour' with app-based offers that achieve roughly the same thing.

Spinningfields and the King Street area still do the classic 2-for-1 cocktail format hardest, usually 4–7pm Monday to Friday. Expect £8–£10 cocktails dropping to £4–£5 each on the deal. The Alchemist, Dirty Martini and Revolución de Cuba all run versions of it, and the offer is often better on rum or vodka cocktails than gin or whisky ones.

On the pub side, the better deals are usually on pints rather than cocktails. Plenty of NQ and Oxford Road pubs run a weekday 'pint and a pie for £8' or '£1 off cask before 7pm' deal that doesn't get advertised as happy hour but functions as one. Always ask at the bar - discount structures are inconsistent and rarely on the menu.

A couple of things to watch for. Premium spirits are almost never included in 2-for-1 deals (so no Hendrick's, no Patrón). Some places require you to order both drinks at the same time. And app-based offers like the Wetherspoons app or the Greene King 'Inn Rewards' card stack on top of any in-pub deal - worth installing if you're a regular.
