Manchester is a good city for drinking with a dog. Most traditional pubs allow dogs throughout, most craft taprooms actively encourage it, and the only consistent exceptions are venues with a full kitchen service where dogs are restricted to the bar area or garden.

South Manchester is the strongest area for it. Chorlton, Didsbury and Levenshulme pubs almost all keep a water bowl by the door and a jar of biscuits behind the bar. In the centre, the Northern Quarter independents and the Ancoats taprooms are the reliable bets; the Deansgate and Spinningfields restaurant-bars generally are not.
