Cheapest Guinness in Manchester
Where to drink the black stuff without spending £7. Ranked from cheapest verified pint up.
Guinness pricing varies wildly across Greater Manchester - we've seen it as low as £3 in Levenshulme and over £7 in Spinningfields. Here's the cheap end of the spectrum.
Guinness is the great equaliser of Manchester pricing: the same product, poured the same way, with a spread of nearly £4 a pint between the cheapest and most expensive verified pours in our database. The difference isn't quality - Diageo polices the line cleaning and the two-part pour religiously - it's pure location markup.
The cheapest Guinness in Manchester is almost always going to be in a traditional Irish pub or a community boozer that's been pouring it the same way for 30 years. Mulligans on Southgate has long been the city-centre benchmark; out in the suburbs, places like the Pomona Palace in Hulme and the Hare & Hounds in Shudehill consistently come in well under £5. Wetherspoons sit just above that - usually £4.50–£5 for a properly-poured pint, which is one of the better deals in their range.
Worth knowing: not every cheap Guinness is a good Guinness. A pint costs the pub more if they have to dump the first inch because the line is dirty, so very low-turnover bars sometimes serve a slightly cloudy or sour pint. The pubs at the top of this list are all places where Guinness is a high-volume order, so freshness is rarely an issue.
If you're chasing the proper two-part-pour ritual - bartender starts the pint, lets it settle, tops it off, presents it - you're more likely to get it in an Irish-owned pub than a chain. Mulligans, Sinclair's Oyster Bar and Waxy O'Connor's still do it properly. Wetherspoons will pour it in one go and that's fine, but it's not the same drink.
