Manchester has more bottomless brunch than almost any city outside London, and the headline prices cluster so tightly - usually £30 to £45 - that they tell you nothing. What varies is the length of the slot, what's included, and how quickly the drinks arrive. A 90-minute slot at £35 is a worse deal than a two-hour slot at £40, and a venue pouring house prosecco is not comparable to one pouring cocktails.

The three numbers worth checking before you book: the slot length in minutes, whether cocktails are included or prosecco-only, and whether food is a set plate or a menu choice. Divide the price by the hours and you have the only figure that lets you compare venues honestly. Most Manchester slots work out between £15 and £22 an hour.

The other thing nobody mentions: service pace decides the value more than the price does. A busy Deansgate bar with one server per thirty covers will get you four drinks in two hours. A quieter Northern Quarter spot at the same price will get you seven. Booking the first slot of the day is consistently the best-value move.
